Six years ago from now I quit a regular architecture 9 to 5 job and started my solopreneurship journey. It was not an easy ride, however, I am still here, alive and well. Now when the hard times come, I can confidently say: You got this, this is not your first rodeo. To survive and live a decent life on your own terms without a stable paycheck coming in every month is possible, when you have some guiding principles. These are exactly what I am going to share with you. Mindset, priorities, productivity, creativity, time management and everything related to successfully unlearning of the factory worker mentality that is being installed within our brains at school. You have to uninstall the old software and download a new paradigm. This is what this newsletter is designed to help you to do. Ready? Let’s go! But first…
You don’t need more time, you need more focus. When you get unconscious and lost in your tasks and flow, this is when you do less. Always be present, this is the true productivity hack.
Little things you do every day. Over and over again. They are the most important.
Have fun at work. What is important is that on the way to achieving your goals, you will have a great time. I have learned it the hard way.
Do hard things. They release dopamine afterwards. It makes you feel good. This is a formula for so-called happiness in a nutshell.
Learn to live below your means and still enjoy life. Most things that make you happy are free of charge or have a very low cost. Good night sleep is free. Taking a walk is free. Meeting new interesting people is free. Meditation is free. Exercising is free. Riding a bike is free. A cup of coffee costs pennies. Cold showers cost pennies. Eating healthy costs something. What else do you need?
Tomorrow morning is always more important than today’s evening. Decisions are the best when they are made with a bright mind. Replies to important emails and messages as well. If you find yourself overthinking it in the evening, take a good rest and come back to it in the morning.
Some people are assets, some people are liabilities. Spiritually, emotionally, socially, and materially. Once I heard this and it hit me. If you want to be wealthy, you already know what to do.
Make every emotion work for you. If you can harness and focus the energy that your feelings generate, you have the power to do anything.
Hire slow, fire fast. This one is from Gary Vaynerchuk. It works with everything, not just employees. Talk to a lot of people and gather insights about who they are. Trust them with things gradually. If you notice the warning signs, act fast. Do not wait.
It is ok to live a life that nobody understands. And most people won’t. You should not care about it that much. What is important is that you know your journey.
These truths helped me a lot. Still does on a daily basis. To thrive in this lifestyle you have to design a new mind for yourself. It will be challenging, it will be uncomfortable and very different from anything you have experienced in school or university. But it is your life and you are the author of it. You are the only one who can make it work. Hope you will find these useful and I am going to share some more in the future. Stay tuned!
