Boom! Today I woke up earlier than usual. The plan is to take the morning time to write. No, not because it is the product of my insane discipline. The truth is, that the last several days were heavy. Mostly due to intense work-related emotions that were knocking my mind at 5 am. If this is the product of stress, thank you. More early wake-ups, please. I always knew that stress makes me a better performer. Did my 3-step morning program and now I am here on my laptop. Rain is pouring outside my window presenting the wet day I will immerse myself into soon. But I am refreshed and ready to hit it. Let's start by...
Life works in mysterious ways. You always think that in the next level, your current problems will fade away and there is all smooth sailing from there. It might be true that the grass is greener on the other side, but you have no idea what else is there. You do not even see. This divine moment of progress when you finally reach that milestone and can safely enjoy the perks of this next level lasts very short. It becomes casual really fast. And then the responsibility hits and drags you down to the business as usual. So wherever your life is now, it is pretty much the same everywhere. Humans gonna human.
That’s all nice and sweet. But what is a significant change in life, you may ask? When you change the way you feel on a daily basis it is the biggest shift towards a better life you can make. And it is a tough mission to accomplish. Specifically, because it requires the formation of new neurological pathways within your brain. Building different habits. New friends and colleagues. Unlocking different reactions to the same triggers. Complete redesigning of the current. There are so many things that tie you up to the old ones. Have you ever thought that your current life has you by the balls? I mean it is like a net that you are tied with. All your relationships maintain your worldview, and beliefs as well as greatly influence choices. It is like the matrix. I know, my favourite word.
So how can you break free and have a lasting change? You shake your world. Tremble it to the core with new experiences that challenge everything present. People change when stuff strikes as a flash of lightning in their lives. Most of the time it happens in a way they don’t expect or would ever want to change towards that direction. But since we are aware of this, this can be designed your way. Go to Tony Robbins's event and walk on fire. Approach random people and talk to them. Make a public speech. Try the ice bath. Travel to a third-world country and live there for a few months. Cut all the current connections. Start writing. Anything that will shake it and trigger different parts of your brain.
When the hit happens, maintain it. Find ways to exercise the new mental pathways to keep the change permanent and engrained within your psyche. How? Do the new things you immersed yourself in. Like the cold plunge? Do it every morning. Feeling your mind expanding by all these small talks with random people? Approach some new ones every day. Enjoyed the new country and different culture? Start living there. Like how your brain works when you write? Write daily.
Slowly but surely, life will change. Every seven years you have a new body. This happens because the old cells die and are replaced by the new ones. This means an entirely new brain. Entirely new body as well. Every 7 years. And the quality of these cells might be very different from the previous ones. This literally, can be the better version of you. You are like a caterpillar that can become a butterfly from time to time if you do the work. Make this transformation count.
Love this. Every seven years you're a new human. It would seem the only thing that is constant is change and I think there's a great freedom in this. We sometimes think our lives are stagnant but if we take a moment to look back, we can see how much we've changed and therefore what we might be capable of in the future.
Thanks for this 👏
Love this Tomas…what you say about creating a lighting strike situation..I can feel the power in it. Reminds me of the tower card in the tarot which people usually hate to see, but it unlocks so much energy & vitality.
